Father Christmas to become a Cheddar caveman

Up to now, Cheddar Man has been the most famous gentleman to emerge from Cheddar Gorge & Caves.

But as visitors to this popular Somerset attraction will soon discover, that’s all about to change from November 24.

Because there’s a secret that has been hidden deep underground in Gough’s Cave: and thanks to a jolly, white haired, old chap – along with some of his little helpers – this Christmas, visitors will get to see an outpost of their North Pole HQ, at Cheddar Gorge & Caves.

Younger visitors, in particular will be delighted to find that it’s not just Cheddar cheese that’s made in the village these days, but also plenty of toys as well.  What’s more, some of Father Christmas’s elves have also set-up a magical place underground, where they can read and help to process some of the many letters that are sent to Father Christmas every year.

While they’ll be busy making sure that there are enough presents for everyone, Father Christmas himself will be on hand to ensure his operations are up to scratch – and to meet as many visitors as possible, ensuring they have a perfect festive season.

Christmas at Cheddar this year promises to be very special, with a chance to sing seasonal songs, listen to a festive fairytale and receive a special gift from Father Christmas, against the magical backdrop of Gough’s Cave and its spectacular natural features.

Best of all, the whole experience is included within the cost of a regular Day Ticket.  The Christmas experience at Cheddar runs at weekends between November 24 to December 9 and daily between December 15 to December 24.  (Check online for pre-booking information, and for all Christmas at Cheddar dates, and times).

Access to Cheddar Gorge and Caves via an Explorer Day Ticket (Dreamhunters, Gough’s Cave, The Museum of Prehistory, Beyond the View, Jacobs ladder and Cliff-top Walk) is priced at: Adults £19.95 (online £16.95); Children (5-15) £13.95 (online £11.85); Under 5s £5 entry is required for the Christmas experience.
